This is out of my area of expertise, so please bear with my.

The IT consulting firm that hosts my companies email using: ArGoSoft Mail Server Web Interface v1.0.4.1. has made some changes to the system to help with spam etc…

I can no longer email my companies support address from my home account with Time Warner/Road Runner. (a few clients of ours get the same error)

    The error I receive is:

From what little I understand, the mail is not being accepted because Road Runner doesn’t have a reverse DNS information in its mail headers.

Has my IT company lost its mind or is there a solution to this…..I was told I'd need to contact Road Runner and have them fix this on their end...This of course makes no sense to me since I have a few clients that I know of on other ISP's that can't send me mail either.

Blocking email this way is stupid, and is usually done by incompetent people!

So, there, I said it :D

The only way you can *fix* this is to have your company change its policy. You should educate them, and tell them that this way they WILL be losing customer email!

    /rant

Bossman came in. Went online to Juno and sent two mails.
    Support@
    Sjones@

I got the Sjones in one minute...The other one showed up forty minutes later..

Told him I have three clients that have done test for me today. None of them can mail Support@....Bossman said that we'll keep an eye on it and see how it goes....Nothing like giving poor service... /end of rant

Until your IT dept gets its act together you could use an alternate smtp server to send your mail. Get a free gmail account and send via that smtp server.

My ISP prohibits using alternate smtp servers that use port 25. They do this to stop email relaying and thwart customers from using home servers. They also require that one be connected to their network to use their smtp servers (they filter by ip address), meaning that if one is mobile then one cannot send mail, only can receive mail. Gmail smtp uses port 587. I use that smtp server when I'm mobile and for some other accounts too.

    We can send mail out.

Its the mail our clients send to us requesting support that are getting blocked.

I just got into the office and got a mail from the powers that be that we're going to have to deal with this....They are looking for an unblock type option.

I replied with a near job ending mail pointing out how stupid all of this is.
