I should like to run a utility program automatically every time anyone logs out of this particular computer. i.e. similar to Startup but occuring just prior to logging out.

    Can this be done?

I will use perl to write the utility

XP Pro has gpedit.msc (local policy editor) where you can specify shutdown or logoff scripts (batch files).
