    Hi Alice:
I checked out those post and it looks like this problem has been around for a while and no one has come up with a solution. Did you notice the dates on those post...Whats going on there ???
I did notify the webmaster but he said he hasn't had any complains but it's a new website and not that many people have visited the site as of now. Thanks again for your help

Yes, I noticed the date (it's a Y2K problem if I remember right, on displaying dates)
Go to http://groups.google.com and type in phrases like
java.lang.IllegalArgumentException hover or hover java applet IE6
in the search field and you will see other complaints but no real solutions that I could find, from the user's end.

Bottom line: fp hover button java applets are buggy and the website creator should at the very least provide alternate links to navigate his site.

    Hi Alice:
    Try out this link
Yes you are right. It seems people have been having this problem for over a year...One guy wrote that the two files fphover.class and fphoverx.class should be in the webpage directory. Don't know if that will work but I am going to suggest it to the webmaster.

An old saying....If you can't beat them ,join them
I couldn't get the hover buttons to work using MSIE6 . I had reports that they work using Nescape....So I D/L-ed Netscape and to my surprise the hover buttons didn't work with Netscape. For some strange reason I decided to check the hover buttons once more using MSIE6 and they are now working more on MSIE6
    Go figure .......

It must seem very spooky yo you!

Maybe a shut down and restart did it? That seems to fix lots of strangeness that I notice in Windows from time to time.

    Clearing of Windows\Temp contents?
Deleting the Windows Temporary Internet Files then closing and reopening Interntet Explorer?

You could try any of the above and let us know if it makes a difference.

    HI Alice:
I always turn my computer off when not in use. If I let it run without using it for a while it will hang up on me and the only way I can get it to respond is by shutting it off. Then it has to go throuh
that long start up procedure. Deleting the temp file doesn't seem to work either. The thing I don't understand is how it gets the fphover.class file. It must be in one of the *.zip files but when I do a search for the fphover.class I can't find it. Can you locate on your computer and if you find it where is it located ?? It seems when the program calls this statement
    <applet code= "fphover.class" codebase= "./" width= "144" height= "24 ">
It has to be able to find fphover.class. Seems like it should be on the web server page.???

If I use Mozilla (Sun's java) and go to the site, then do a Find on *.class or fphover, it comes up with names like fphover.class-47beb988-7d3a0911.class and fphoverx.class-24267322-6660afcf.class in Sun Java's cache folder, C:\Windows\.jpi_cache\file\1.0 and those files will stay there until I open the Sun Java Applet in Control Pnael and clear the cache.

If I go to the site in Internet Explorer, I don't get anything showing up in the Find window, but if I look in the C:\Windows\Temporary Internet Files folder while IE is still open, or go to Tools Internet Options and click Settings in the Temporary Internet Files area, then click View Files, I can see all the assocoated files from www.dryL.org, including fphover.class and fphoverx.class.

So, the class files are downloaded to your TIF when you go to the site.

I have IE set to delete the temporary internet files content when closing (it's on the Advanced tab under Security), so tat's why I sugessted to clear your TIF. To delete the TIF manually go to Tools Internet Options and click Delete Files on hte general tab. If you close IE then look in the Windows\Temporary Internet Files folder, the only files that should be left are the cookies.

    Hi Alice:
Turned on my computer this morning and the hover buttons were there when I checked the dryl site. I then did a search using FIND for *.class files. Both fphover & fphoverx.class were in the temp directory... I turned off the computer and turned it on again and then checked for the *.class files . They were now not in the temp directory... I went on-line and the hover buttons once again missing when I went to dryl site. Using FIND, the two fphover files were now again back in the temp directory. It appears that I am downloading the two hover buttom files but for some reason the dryl.site can't locate them ??? This seems to be the best clue so far but I don't know what to do with it...What can be causing the browser or the webpage from using the fphover.class files ???

when you say "temp directory" I assume you mean the Windows\Temporary Internet Files" folder? It's best to be specific in these matters since there is also a Windows\Temp folder.

Anyway, I'm afraid I'm at a dead end. I don't know why the hover buttons don't work even after deleting the TIF contents and getting fresh copies of the files. In your place I would write back to the creator of the webpage and ask him to put up plain old regular links so that you can navigate the site.
