    Dear Friend,
I am unable to access internet explorer on my P.C. When I
tries to access it , I receives the following error:-
"The application failed to initialize properly(0*0000005). Click on
Ok to turminate the program ".
Before the time , I received the same error message . At that
time I did performed repair installation of windows xp because alone adding or
    removing components doesn't work.
So is it virus activity or other operating system related problem?
Please help me to find the solution.
    Thank you,
    Ashish.

    Hi,
I copied the following information for you to read...If it applies than that's great but if it does not, please avoid attempting any portion of it until more information can be found...Keep us posted.

Error "The application failed to initialize properly - 0xc0000005" during startup on VAIO computers (Photoshop CS, Illustrator CS, and Golive CS on Windows XP)

    Issue

Adobe Photoshop CS, Adobe Illustrator CS, or Adobe Golive CS quits during application startup with the error "The application failed to initialize properly - 0xc0000005" on a Sony VAIO computer.

    Detail

Windows XP with Service Pack 2 (SP2) was preinstalled on the computer.

Solution: Install the current version of the Sony SonicStage mastering program.

    1. From the Windows Start menu, choose VAIO Update.

    2. Choose to download and install the current version of the SonicStage Mastering Studio Audio Filter program.

    3. Follow the instructions on the Sony website download page to download and install the software.

    Background information

Sony VAIO computers with Windows XP with SP2 preinstalled come with Sony SonicStage Mastering Studio Audio Filter version 1.1, which isn't compatible with Photoshop CS, Illustrator CS, or Golive CS. After you have installed the current version of SonicStage software, these Adobe Creative Suite applications will start successfully.

There is another solution posted here admittedly for W2k but may work for XP too .....

    http://www.annoyances.org/exec/forum/win2000/t1134173199

Post #7 or thereabouts. Note that it involves editing the registry ....

Export the registry keys before deleting. If the problem remains merge the exported key back into the registry.
