I know this may seem like a couple of the other posts on here but I read them and I don't think it is. I haven't had any trouble until I tried to load Windows office 2000 on my machine. The last thing I used my burner for was burning a video from the internet which I aborted. I have since tried to read a couple of picture CD's that I had burnt on the player and it sees nothing after inserting them. My machine is only 2 years old.

Try to uninstall your burner through Device Manager. Restart computer.

I uninstalled it and restarted but it still won't recognize the Office 2000 disc.

Can you try CD on another machine? Did you try to clean the disk (always go in radial direction, while doing it; never in circles)?

I only used a dry cloth and it looks pretty clean but still won't work.

I mentioned earlier that it had recognized a project CD disc.

I'm not going to try my drive in another computer because it does recognize some CDs. The only cleaner I have is an anti static and dusting spray for electronics (Endust).

    It is your filter drivers.

Read about them here then download the Filtercheck and Filterfix utilities.

    http://www.cdr-zone.com/forum/about4719.html

In filterfix.exe be sure to chose Optical drives an search registry for filters.

Since you are dead in the water anyway can't hurt anyway, clear them and reboot.

I downloaded both but could only get results from the bottom program. I didn't see any optical choice as you mentioned. Also, it didn't reveal what the filters were related too, only if I wanted to remove them.

I downloaded the third at the bottom of the page, ran it and it had the chose optical option. I selercted it and it revealed 3 filters related to my DVD/CD-ROM drive, two uppers and one lower. I would assume it's OK to fix them or remove them?

    The uppers are:
    Cdralw2k and pwd_2k

    The lower is:
    Cdr4_xp

What CD Writing software were you using?

OK look in add/remove for any CD burning Suites, your filter drivers indicate this may have been Roxio. Un-install all CD burning suites. Roxio, Nero etc.

    After this!

Reboot, again remove the CD\DVD devices in Device Manager and reboot once more.

After reboot then re-install any CD burning software you have or download the free Nero.
