How safe is it to register at game sites such as BigFish Games?

    Define "safe. "

BigFish Games seems to only want a name and email address.

Why do they ask for this information? Can things be downloaded on your computer from them?

I know to the highly computer literate on this site that seems like a stupid question, but the handicapped need help also.

They want your email address so they can send you "important offers" and assorted other advertising. In other words, spam.

I set up a mail account with one of the many free online services. It's specifically to use for registering with things like Big Fish. They can send all the junk they want to that address. Like all free mail accounts, it has a limit on the size of the inbox so I go over there once a month or so and delete it all.

I registered with Big Fish games once several years ago using that bogus identity and that mail account is still getting stuff from them.
