Hi, we have a Acer laptop with Windows XP installed , the problem we have is that it will send and receive Emails on our home wireless setup , ( Tadaust IP ) but when we connect it to the phone ( Nokia 6120) Data paskage from Telstra ( Bigpond), it will log on to the Internet OK and works fine can download etc and in OE6 it will receive Emails OK, but when you go to send one it tells you that either the address is wrong, or the IP providers address is wrong, BUT when you go to shut it off it tells you that you have messages in you Outbox , "do you want to send them ", a couple of times it has sent them, and also a couple have gone through normally as well.
we have rang telstra and they have run us through all the settings etc , but no joy.
I dont think it is the PC as it works perfectly on 2 different wireless accounts at 2 different houses. but when at the local WiFi hot spot it will not send them from there, both are on Bigpond???.
We are going on holiday and trying to get it all set up before we go.
Any tips or things to check would be great .
    Thanks Des.

Your email account is setup with one ISP and you're trying to send through another. Most won't allow this. You would have to change your outgoing SMTP setting to match Bigpond. That or get a netural email account through gmail or something similar.

Hi Steve , we tried that but it just told us that the address was wrong, he ( owner) said they never mentioned any thing about that when they checked his info , it works OK , on other networks , just crook on Bigpond, he said they did mention that they ( Bigpond ) were having some problems with Outlook Express and they were working on it, so will have to wait and see.
Thanks for your help Cheers Des.

Hi Steve , Sorry about the late reply but have only just fixed problem. after talking to our ISP and doing their checks and doing the suggestions from here , no luck.
you were right about needing to change the server to send Emails , when I did before I changed the SMTP to "bigpond.com" and it was still the same but after 5 phone call to Telstra we finally got some one who knew what day it was , and he ran the checks ( as 3 had done before, 2 told us they were having some problems at their end) and we found that when you change the outgoing server address , you dont use SMTP you use " mail bigpond.com" instead, the same as in coming???.
Works , but now it won't send on our home server.
But at least he will be OK on his trip,
Thanks again for your help. Cheers Des.

You need to have 2 different accounts. One with the BigPond address and one with the other one. You can also set it not to use a certain account when checking for e-mails. It is on the General Tab when you set the account up. If you have more then 1 account, look beside the Send/Rec button and you will see a down arrow. Click on the down arrow and choose the one you want. It won't matter if you have it set not to use it. It will force it because you are doing it manually.

Hope it works out for you. Let us know how it goes. I have it set that way for the wife and me. She uses O and I use OE on the desktop. On her laptop we both use OE and we have it set so that each checks their own e-mail and it is sent to a folder with their name on it.
