Files do not show up in recycle bin. However, I know they are there because if I select "empty recycle bin " it says " do you want to want to delete these 51 files ". Using XP home edition.

    Hi amsabri
    Welcome to the boards!
    Two thoughts:
    Go to Start | Run
    Type in regedit
    Find the following key

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Wind
    ows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Bitbucket

In the right pane, you will see NukeonDelete

    Right click and click Modify

Change the Value Data from 1 to 0 (zero)

    or:
create a new user with admin rights and see if the same thing happens?

    THANKS Daizy!!
Re: your first thought ... Value data was already zero.
RE: second idea .. it worked..I created a new computer administrator, logged on with it, saved a new file in Word, deleted it and now that one file does show up in the recycle bin. But the others don't SO... does this mean I have to log on as computer administrator each time I boot my computer up.?(I'm the only one who uses my computer) Amber

    I don't know. I would assume so?
Have you tried to reboot and see? We could both learn from this one?
