I wonder if anyone can help,

I have recently purchased 2 x Netgear Wireless USB Nics.

Got them configured and working nicely, using ad hoc (ie no access point, just adapter to adapter)

I was listening to some music over the connection, and noticed it cutting out every 15 ish seconds..

I then started a ping -t to the other pc, and its fine for about 15 seconds, then gives me a time out, or a response of about 3000ms.. after one of these, it promptly jumps back to normal..

I have tried the latest drivers for the Netgears, and even tried different machines running xp. I spoke to Netgear support earlier today, and they tell me its a problem specifically with XP and USB connectivity, they tell me i'm going to have to wait for the service pack to come out.

Can anyone make any suggestions, pretty please, this is driving me mad!

I can make a suggestion but you may not like it.

Get real NICs since the USB stuff just "isn't ready for prime time" in many cases. It may or may not ever be. See WinModem discussions for a device that was a great idea on paper but has been a horror for many folks in use.

I like USB for lots of devices. I will not use it for network traffic.

i dont know how the SP will help, I heard support for USB 2.0, but I guess there may be some new work in the USB 1.0 dep.

if you want a BETA of sp, check out www.iexbeta.com either way, SP1 will be out in hopefully less than 2-3 weeks, the beta's are quiet stable now (i've got *89 on mine) so the newest really might be OK

remember, their not supported by Microsoft yet though....
