Ok so yesterday I built a Core Duo 2 Machine for my office work. I formatted my C Drive and then went ahead and started the XP Install, somehow (probably due to my inattention) it loaded the OS on my E drive. So after I got the networking drivers on I activated the OS. Now I notice the OS is on my E Drive the computer thinks my C drive is the System drive, and it calls my e drive the Boot drive, and I can not change the drive letters. My C Drive is formatted in Fat 32. Now this is not the scenario I had imagined for my new Office box so, Can I wipe both drives and start over? What is the activation deal with Microsoft for XP Pro, once I activated it that is the deal, they won't let me activate it again will they?

By the way will it run ok as is without any trouble down the line after all one is for my data, and one for apps and OS., and backup for the data drive.

By the way I tried to take the C Drive out and place the E drive in SATA 1 but the computer would not buy that.

    Thanks for any advice

Your only real option is to reinstall Windows as changing the drive letter now is very very difficult and not recommended. There is a kosher way for you to backup your activation files in XP (at least it used to work) so that you can reactivate a new install without having to let the machine phone home. I just can’t remember at the moment how to do it. Perhaps some else will illuminate us, or you can Google for it, something to do with the wpa file.
