Yesterday I installed Office 2007 Professional. I now find that Outlook 2007 (which I do not want to use) has highjacked my contacts lists from OE6 so there is nothing in my OE Address book. I can't find a way to export the Contacts list from Outlook, nor to import it into OE6. Can anyone tell me how to get the list back into OE6?

I'm no expert on this stuff, but I just moved to Outlook from OE, and although it turned out that that transition was painless (you can export the address book - and all message folders - directly from OE to Outlook) I had already converted my OE address book to a .csv (comma separated values)file, thinking that that would be the bridge to Outlook's use. I believe that that route, i.e. Exporting/Importing .csv files, might be the way to go to get your Outlook addresses back to OE.

As an observation, I still would prefer to use OE than Outlook, but felt compelled to go to Outlook to be able to download 'headers only' from my ISP - I'm on a dialup line and OE will not download 'headers only' to enable me to sidestep the huge junk e-mails, etc. to get to my 'real' e-mail. If anyone who reads this has any recommendation of any other e-mail s/w which enables 'headers-only' delivery, please let me know... thanks

Well I'm on Outlook 2003 which may be different than O 2007, but on my version, here's how to export the contacts file; I just did it and populated an Excel spreadsheet with all my Contacts data, so if it worked exporting to Excel, it should export OK to OE.....

Click on File, Import and Export, Export to a file, Comma Separated Values (Windows), then select Contacts and pick a file location for the resultant .csv file. Now you should be able to use that file as input to the Import function of OE....

I've decided to give up on this. It will be quicker to recreate my contacts /address book by adding the names from the "to" lists in my saved messages. Thanks for trying to help
