    Hi,

I've had this problem for a long time, but it has been kept under control for the most part. I have windows XP and I use mozilla now because every time internet explorer is opened like 99 pop-ups come up. Even when im just typing a paper or playing a game random pop-ups will come up. I tried deleting all the files, which turned out to be stupid, because i accidentally deleted my quick launch bar next to the start menu. If anyone could help me out, with stopping the pop-ups and getting a new quick launch bar, it would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi wheresthedisco
    Welcome to Windowsbbs :)

Please download and install HijackThis and Run a scan then close HJT, then run Deckard's System Scanner and post the main.txt log here. Links and instructions here.

    Thanks
    Geri

    Hi wheresthedisco

OK, You have a couple things going on here so lets run a couple tools and see where we stand.
Please do these in the order given.

Spybot S&D's tea timer normally provides real-time protection from spyware, however it may interfere with what we need to do. We will disable it until the machine is clean when it can be re-enabled.

    First step:
    • Right-click the Spybot Icon in the System Tray (looks like a blue/white calendar with a padlock symbol)
    • If you have the new version 1.5, Click once on Resident Protection, then Right click the Spybot icon again and make sure Resident Protection is now Unchecked. The Spybot icon in the System tray should now be now colorless.
    • If you have Version 1.4, Click on Exit Spybot S&D Resident
Second step, For Either Version :
    • Open Spybot S&D
    • Click Mode, choose Advanced Mode
    • Go To the bottom of the Vertical Panel on the Left, Click Tools
    • then, also in left panel, click Resident shows a red/white shield.
    • If your firewall raises a question, say OK
    • In the Resident protection status frame, Uncheck the box labeled Resident "Tea-Timer "(Protection of over-all system settings) active
    • OK any prompts.
    • Use File, Exit to terminate Spybot
    • Reboot your machine for the changes to take effect.
Don't forget to re-enable it, when your computer is clean.

    Now run this.

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop
    • Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
    • Click the Scan for Vundo button.
    • Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
    • You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
    • Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
    • When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
    • Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log in a reply to this thread.

Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove. In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button" when VundoFix appears upon rebooting.

    Now this.

Download ComboFix from [color= "Red"]Here[/color] to your Desktop.
It's best to disable realtime protection applications as they sometimes interfere with the tool. Check this link for any applicable programs you may have.
    • Close all open programs and windows
    • Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
    • Vista users right click Combofix.exe and select Run As Administrator.
    • When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log and a HiJackthis log in your next reply
Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while its running. That may cause it to stall

Please post the Vundo log and the Combofix log.

    Thanks
    Geri

    Hi
OK That's looking good, but CF did not fix these.
    So lets try it again.

Please delete the combofix you have and get the newer version before running the below CFScript.

    Highlight and copy the contents of the code box below and paste it into a blank notepad, then save it to your desktop as;

    Filename: CFScript.txt
Save As Type: All Files (*.*)

Close all other windows and programs. Now drag the CFScript.txt onto ComboFix.exe and drop it, using the left mouse button.
Click here to see how to use CFScript.txt
Combofix should run and may reboot the computer when it's done. A log will open when it's complete. Post the contents of that log.

Please do not click on the ComboFix window while it is running a scan. This can cause it to stall.

    Code:
    File::
    C:\WINDOWS\mrofinu72.exe.tmp.vir

    RenV::
    C:\hp\KBD\KBD .EXE
    C:\Program Files\AIM\aim .exe
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Network Associates\TalkBack\TBMon .exe
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Sonic\Update Manager\sgtray .exe
    C:\Program Files\CyberLink\PowerDVD\PDVDServ .exe
    C:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\Unload\hpqcmon .exe
    C:\Program Files\HP\HP Software Update\HPWuSchd2 .exe
    C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesHelper .exe
    C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_10\bin\jusched .exe
    C:\Program Files\Network Associates\Common Framework\UpdaterUI .exe
    C:\Program Files\ScanSoft\OmniPageSE\opware32 .exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system\hpsysdrv .exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\hkcmd .exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\hphmon05 .exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\igfxtray .exe
    Please post the Combofix log.

    Thanks
    Geri

    Hi

    OK, lets try this one.

Please go HERE to run Panda's ActiveScan
    • Once you are on the Panda site click the Scan your PC button
    • A new window will open...click the Check Now button
    • Enter your Country
    • Enter your State/Province
    • Enter your e-mail address and click send
    • Select either Home User or Company
    • Click the big Scan Now button
    • If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
    • It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It may take a couple of minutes)
    • When download is complete, click on My Computer to start the scan
    • When the scan completes, if anything malicious is detected, click the See Report button, then Save Report and save it to a convenient location. Post the contents of the ActiveScan report

    Thanks
    Geri
