Can anyone tell me why it is necessary to have "MS TCP Loopback Interface" running? I have a valid, working wireless network connection from my laptop to DSL modem, and from there to my desktop through a wired router. The loopback thing appears on both desktop and laptop. What the heck does it do? Do I really need this thing??? Thanks, guys!

Some applications need a valid network address in order to run. These applications are very rare, but the loopback adapter allows for windows to trick the app into running.

    Thanks!

Yes, thanks, Decrypter, Loopback serves several purposes for certain programs and for testing network links when a network connection is not available. None of these apply in my case. I have a valid network connection and no programs that I know of are running anything that should require the loopback.
