When I try to open a file with .ini extension "like DESKTOP.INI or OEMINFO.INI" an empty notepad window appear with a small window infront of it contains the following message:
(The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.) with OK button under this text, and when I click OK, all I have is a notepad window without any text.
when I tried to open it from DOS window (by: Start-Run-cmd-Enter, then it's path) it was opened normally with it's normal text. But the problem occure when I try to open the file by double click on it.
Note: Other files with .txt, .inf extension opened with notepad normally, the problem occure only with the files with .ini extension.

    Can anybody help?

    thanx.

What happens if you right click on an .ini file and select "Open With" and then select notepad?

Ok I have another PC with .ini files works properly. but how can I take these reg. and importing them in the PC with this fault?
I did this: run-regedit-ok and see the ini and bat reg files, exporting them to my documents in the normal PC and took them with a flash memory ram and transfer them to the PC with this fault. how can I past them here, just double click on each of them and click yes on the message: do you want to add these reg.....? I did that and I got the message that said this reg. was added succesfully, but it was not working, I still had the same problem.
    thanx

Your procedure was correct. Be certain you got the correct reg branch.

    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\inifile

    NOT:

    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.ini

Reboot perhaps. Other than that, I'm pretty much out of ideas. Perhaps try System Restore to a time when things worked properly.

Thanx aloooot my friend surferdude2, you solved the problem...
First time I took the reg. of the (.ini), but when I took the reg. of (inifile) it work succesfully.
I just compare the open command of the inifile in Registry Editor in a normal PC with the same comand in the PC with this fault and see the diffrence between them, normal one is:
    %SystemRoot%\System32\NOTEPAD.EXE %1
and in the PC with problem is:
    %SystemRoot%\System32\NOTEPAD.EXE %1 "

the ( ") was the cause of my problem... lol. when I removed it, everything became normal.
    Thanx alot my genius friend.
    And thanx to www.windowsbbs.com
