I put a CD into my laptop. When I try to run it, I get the message to insert a CD. There's already a CD in, but now I cannot eject to get the stupid thing out. (By the way, the CD is from the US Gov. - Should have known better!)
I've gone to My Computer and tried to eject the CD from there, and it tries - you can hear it trying - but the drawer does not open. Please help! Thanks.

Turn the pc off..Use a paper clip that you've straightened out and insert it into the tiny little hole on the drive to manually open the drawer.

    Cannot eject CD

I tried your suggestion with the paper clip, but no luck. I can feel the manuel eject with the paper clip, but nothing happens. Any other suggestions? I really appreciate your help.

Sounds silly but worked for me once.
Turn laptop upside down, give a gentle shake, THEN try the eject while still upside down.
Guess it all depends on mechanism of cd drive why that worked - it was my last resort before took **&^$# thing apart.

Are you sure you're pushing hard enough with the paper clip? It takes a fair amount of pressure to open the tray when doing this.

The paperclip may need to be pushed in quite a long way to unlock the clip. You should feel it start to give way, but keep pushing it in until it unlocks.

The CD may have come out of tray and is jammed across the doorway. You may need to "jiggle" the door if you can (ephemarial suggested shaking).

Something that will not release a CD-RW disk is a UDF program. Nero's is InCD, another may be DirectCD. For InCD there should be icon in the Notification Tray (next to the time), right-click on the icon and there should be an Eject selection.

THANK YOU SO MUCH, MATT, ZANDER, & STEVE. The CD had come out of the tray, but the combination of the paper clip (& much more pressure w/it) plus jiggling it did the trick.

You guys are super. I really appreciate you.
