I use WIN XP Pro and all my folders in Win Explorer opens up in the details view and that's OK. What I would like is to have just My Pictures folders and sub folders open in a thumbnail view.
My question is is there a way to select just the folders and sub folders in My Pictures to open in thumbnails without doing each sub folder one at a time?
    Thanks.

XP can't do that but you can get the freeware Picasa and it'll do that and much more. It will search your computer drives for picture files and accumulate all of them into thumbs for your easy access.

To get only your picture folders to open in thumbnail view and the rest in details, open a windows explorer window and set it to details view (if it isn't already). Then, click tools>folder options>view. Click the button that says "apply to all folders ". Then, in the advanced settings just below that, put a check in the box next to "remember each folder's view settings ".

Then open your picture folder and go to view>thumbnails. After you've done that, it should remember the thumbnail setting for that folder whenever you open it again and the rest of the folders should stay set at details.

If the folder you set to thumbnails has any subfolders in it that contain pictures, you'll have to set each of them to thumbnail view too. However, you should only have to do this one time.

This is the way I have mine set. It does work.

Thanks Zander. I knew I could do that but I was looking for an easier way as I have a lot of My Picture sub folders.
I guess I'll just have to get to work and do it the hard way.
