My friend has an XP ver. 2002 Dell PC. Her modem is a BCM V.92 56k. Running her driver update info, it says there isn't anything new out there for it. I am wondering if maybe there really IS a place to go where she might be able to upgrade the one she has. I don't deal with modems any more, (thank goodness!), so am not sure what can be done. Her ISP is no help when it comes to tweaking her PC so she can get a better connection. If she connects at 28.8 she's good to go, but anything higher than that and she waits forever for pages to load. Unfortunately, she's in an area where she can't get high speed internet and has to deal with the dial up. I'm hoping someone out there can give me clue as to how we can boost her modem or maybe tweak her computer without too much trouble. Any ideas would be helpful. Medium knowledge on computer, so make it simple.

    Thanks.

    :)

:) Thanks! I'll give this a try and see what happens. Will let you all know if any of this worked.

If the ISP has multi phone numbers - try em all.

Wouldn't hurt to replace the phone cable that goes from the pc to the wall.
