I have recently had problems with spyware/malware, which I seem to have now resolved. However, I am now having problems with 'exe' files. I always get an error message at start up regarding my modem 'AIDMON MFC APPLICATION' encountered problems and needs to close 'dslmon.exe' although my modem does still work. I also use a program called newsrover which I can no longer run, I get the following message C:\documents and settings\hp_owner\files\newsrover\newsrover.exe contains an invalid path. Can anyone help me? I am sure some of the spyware programs I have used may have something to do with the above?

    David.

davtin - Welcome to the Board :)

dslmon.exe is connected with the Sagem DSL modem and maybe other makes too.

Uninstalling the modem and associated software and reinstalling should rewrite the registry entries and get rid of the error.

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling Newsrover?

I suggest you try jv16 PowerTools - you can download a 30 day, fully functional trial which may be sufficient for your needs. Be sure to backup the changes/deletions the Registry Cleaner proposes when offered. Can also use the Registry Finder to find references to Newsrover.

I know that you have already tried an uninstall/reinstall of Newsrover, but try again .....

    Uninstall Newsrover

Run the Registry Finder in jv16 Powertools and search for newsrover. Remove the entries with backup

Reboot and reinstall Newsrover. This is as close as you will get to a really clean install of the program.

On the other front - BTW would you confirm that it is 'ADIMON MFC APPLICATION' not AID ... - this is to do with your modem as you know - have you followed my previous suggestion ....

hi, did exactly as you suggested re newsrover, it allows you to run and use the problem after initial download and instalation but when you close it and try to go back in it comes up with the error message :( this was exactly what was happening before I did the reinstall!

Also the modem error says ADIMON. I've recently purchased a wireless router so will be interesting to see if it clears the problem when I install it?

really can't understand what the problem is?

hi, looks like i've solved the newsrover issue, seems the program was just looking for a file which wasn't there, so I created the file in the location of the invaled path which was detailed on the error message, just thought I try it, luckily it works. Now I'll just check the same re the other programs. Many thanks for your help.

Very ingenious solution - well done? I guess there was some indication of which file was missing?
