Free vs. pay Anti-Virus software

    Does it really matter??? I have AVG Free and am looking at Kapersky AV as a possible replacement. And what are your thougts on Kapersky? I am not the interested in the Suite for I use ZA firewall.

    Hello Kelly.

    This really has alot to do with how well trained you and any others are that use the PC, at avoiding any dodgy sites, opening unknown emails and things like that.

    If you're really good at keeping things secure, I'd go with the freeware. I dropped all my 'pay for' stuff last year. I realized I wasn't likely if at all to get anything nasty and figured I'd save a few pennies.

    The only thing I pay for is my firewall because I like the extra I get in customizing ad blocking and some other rules which typically you don't get in free firewalls.

    Kaspersky is a good brand tho, no doubt.

    Thank You! I may just try the trial and see if I like it. I play safe on the Net.
    I am paranoid. LOL!
    I may also try Alwil by Avast.
