I have a little problem that after i put my computer into sleep or hibernation (hybrid sleep) then after it wakes up i cannot connect to the internet. When i try it stops on, "Verifying username and password" If i leave it for a few minutes it says "The remote computer did not respond in a timely manner ".
In my device manager there is a "SCSI/RAID Host controller" with a yellow exclamation mark next to it. "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)" I have tried windows update. But im not even sure this is the problem.

    My computer specifications:
    ------------------
    System Information
    ------------------
Time of this report: 1/13/2008, 01:13:13
    Machine name: VISTA
    Operating System: Windows Vistaâ„¢ Ultimate (6.0, Build 6000) (6000.vista_gdr.071009-1548)
    Language: English (Regional Setting: English)
    System Manufacturer: ECS
    System Model: nForce3-A (Motherboard)
    BIOS: Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG
    Processor: AMD Sempron(tm) Processor 3000+, ~1.8GHz
    Memory: 510MB RAM
Page File: 457MB used, 1048MB available

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

    I will offer a few "trys ".

It is a dial-up connection (let us know)? Connect a handset and see if there is a "busy" signal on the line. The line may have been "dropped ".

I would look at the properties of the connection and check the settings, I cannot remember dial-up settings offhand, I have changed to ADSL. If you see a setting that may be applicable, you can change it, but make a note and change it back if it does not work.

When you try to reconnect, something has not been "reset" (obvious I suppose), but it seems you will need to reset before you can reconnect.

SCSI/RAID controller drivers should not be involved. I do not bother installing them if I am not using RAID.

If you are connecting through a network card go into Device Manager and open Properties for the network adaptor and on the Power Management tab make sure the power saving option is unchecked.

There have been a few problems with connectivity after Sleep/Hibernate.

    Thanks for the replys,

I connect to the internet via a usb modem through dsl.

I unchecked the checkbox for the os to allow the modem to save power, but still the problem persists.
I also requested a hotfix from microsoft that you told me about.

I will post another reply if i fianlly get the hotfix.

I also tried the hotfix with no luck, But i found that if i unplug the modem the replug the modem (which takes a while) then it connects. I found this weird, i guess i will just have to put up with this.

    Any suggestions?

    My broadband User Guide says:
If the modem has the option for using ethernet you may want to consider switching to that. It does not "switch off ".

Check it is not set to turn off the hubs:
    http://www.qwest.com/internethelp/opsystems/pdf/16019_Vista_USBPowerSaveOption.pdf

Which power saving setting do you use? There are settings for USB in "Change advanced power settings ".

For my adsl modem, I can log into the controls by putting the ip address (http://10.0.0.138) into the address bar of the browser. There is an option to "reboot" the modem.

In Control Panel -> Network and Sharing Center, you should find the option to "diagnose and repair" (I have put a connection icon in the notification tray, if I right-click on it, it has the a selection to repair the connection).

Look for updated drivers for the modem.

Drivers for the USB controllers will be included with the chipset drivers (nforce 3). Try the ECS website, otherwise go to nVidia.
