I am getting an error when trying to set up a backup with Vista backup.

I am told the setup fails because the "task image is corrupt of tampered with (0x80041321). "

Where do I find it to correct or delete this image. I assume a new one could then be created.

    No Experts on this issue??

Although some folks have viewed this thread, none seem to have expertise in the area. How about suggestions where else to look?

Apparently the MS Knowledgebase doesn't have any articles on the error.

However, if you Google: "task image is corrupt of tampered" you'll find several hits.

Have you tried deleting the backup task, then recreating it?

    Just Tried

    Arie,

I just tried. I deleted two items: 1/ A backup log under the windows directory.
    2/ The backup created previously.

Same problem. I assume I need to find where the "task image" is located. Any ideas?

Maybe another question is on order. Is Vista Backup worthwhile using. I have some third party backup, but am not armoured by any of them.

Yea, I have some idea, but I'll need a bit more time to figure things out.
I can't answer that, I don't use it. I use Windows Home Server to backup my systems.

    Many Article - no solution

Thanks for the input Steve. I tried the Google and you are rigth - I got 3 pages of hits. Only one problem, no answers found.

Folks appear to be finding this with BACKUP, TASK SCHEDULER, and RESTORE. The links that go to MS say they are working on the page brought in = no answers.
