    Hello all!

Today, I uninstalled SpyBot S&D 1.4 and installed 1.5. It takes almost two minutes to launch with 100% CPU for SpyBotSD.exe. Is this normal?

    Thanks for your time,
    Christer

    Hi Christer

It's a bug of sorts of which they are aware and it annoyed me intensly :) Solved by downloading a beta 1.5.1.16 - runs/starts as normal.

Nearest link I could find today is .....

The update for 1.5 is due out shortly according to the forum.

    Hi Pete!

Thanks for that piece of information. I could have searched and possibly found it myself but instead, I did a few empirical tests. Uninstalling the Swedish version and installing the English version made no difference. Both worked well until updated. I planned to download one update at a time to find out which one is the culprit but now ... ... I won't but will sit on my hands.

This upgrade was "prompted" by Ad-Aware 1.06 no longer being supported and when I had substituted Ad-Aware 2007, I thought I might as well abandon SpyBot S&D 1.4 and go for SpyBot S&D 1.5 but It will have to wait until next month.

There is a fix for the slow start problem posted in a thread in their forums.

    It's located here: http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=22481

I hope it's okay to post this link.

uXu - that's the link I was after, but any of the subsequent beta's should have the same effect. Worked for me!

    Thanks.

    uXu,
thanks for that but I think I will stick with 1.4 until the working version of 1.5 is out of beta and on the normal download site.

I know of a few people who decided to stick with 1.4 and I'm considering switching back, because now for some reason, since adding the fix, Ad-Aware is loading extremely slow.... I'm not sure if its related to the fix, but I have to admit, it seems strange.....

Which version of Ad-Aware? - I have no problems with 2007 loading slowly with the fixed Spybot installation.

BTW - since Jan 1 only manual updates, not web updates, are available for the previous version of Ad-Aware.

I never knew about the manual updates for the "older" version, which I just happen to have been using.

The problems I was having (on 3 computers) was that it would load extremely slow and the other was that it would not update unless it was done manually. I never knew the updates had to be done manually for previous versions, before Jan 1...

Thanks PeteC, the problem seems to solved.... everything is running fine again... :D
