When trying to use Windows Media Player (v10) I get an internal application error. I found an article in Microsoft's Knowledge Base http://support.microsoft.com/kb/899873/en-us but that didn't seem to help. I am using Windows XP with all updates installed. System has a virus scanner. extraneous junk discarded.

I searched the BBS forum and found one message from 2002 related to the same issue however there was no resolution. The suggestion was to install RealPlayer.

I prefer to fix the issue with WMP. Any suggestions? thank you!
