My screen saver settings are to cut in after 15 minutes, with the password protected box checked. I also have it set up a shortcut (Ctrl-Shift-S) to invoke the same screen saver.

However, the screen saver is never protected by the password - it immediately shows the desktop if a key is touched . The only way I can get protection by password is to use Ctrl-Alt-Del and select LOCK COMPUTER.

I have had this problem since I first got Windows 2000 - with SP1 installed, later SP2, and in recent days SP3.

Can anyone give me a tip on why the screen saver password setting is being ignored? Surely not "by design "?!?

Any ideas on how to make it work the way I expect (& the way it does on my W98SE machine .. asks for password even when kicked off manually via shortcut key).

Do you have the pc set to ask for a password at login? (this is a must)
