What is Microsoft Silverlight?

    I just got an email to download Silverlight and I am not sure what it is exactly. Can you give me an overview? Thanks,

    Is this to ENHANCE what you are viewing?

    Or can I download it to enhance a website I am building?

    I don't understand all the technical stuff as easily as you guys do, but I am still fascinated by it and want to learn to keep up with the times, so pardon me for being a little slow (an understatement) about all this new stuff.

    This is MS answer to Flash or Sun Java. MS is starting to compete w/ Flash/Java because the WWW has been leaning toward more embedded multimedia applications such as You Tube videos, Flash advertisements, etc..

    re Web Development
    If you use this new functionality on your sites your viewers will need to download and install Silverlight. It's very new and will be quite some time until it is as popular/demanded as Flash.
