When starting my computer the Windows XP screen is about 5 inches too high. When Windows starts, the screen is fine. This is a recent developement and I don't believe I have changed anything that would cause this.

Is there a way to adjust this? Thanks!

During startup XP uses a lower resolution than when you're within Windows. Try to lower the resolution to 800x600 or 640x480 in your display properties (right-click an unused part of the desktop => properties => settings) and see if the problem also happens there. You probably need to adjust the display position for that resolution, depending on your video card there will be some tab with that option in the advanced display settings.

    Thanks for the suggestion......

I tried several different resolutions. Nothing I did changed the off-set of the start-up screen.....hmmm

The ViewSonic monitor I am using has an "auto adjust" feature. It "auto adjusts" on every boot-up. I am going to try to find the manual to see if I can set the default to "manual adjust ".

This is just kinda strange because this issue just started a few days ago.

Hi Dreamco, I Googled your problem and someone had used the buttons on his monitor to adjust the screen position when starting and the system apparently adjusted itself when Windows finally started. Also have you updated the drivers for your monitor? Graphics card drivers may need updating as well. Make sure there are no loose connections between PC and Monitor. Neil.

Thanks Neil, I will try your suggestions and let you know. I did notice there is a newer driver on the ViewSonic website.
