I have just formatted and reinstalled Windows.

I have a D-Link Wireless Router which I use to connect to the Internet and to the laptop for file sharing etc...

I installed the wireless Aircard on my PC with its drivers and now, it shows a connection utility in the system tray.

    The problem is this.

If I select "Use Windows to configre my wireless network settings" checkbox under <Wireless Networks> tab, then no matter how many times I press "Connect ", it wont connect to my network even though it detects and sees it.
It just keep trying to connect but doesn't do anything.

If I wish to use the Aircard connection utility, I need to uncheck the "Use Windows to configre my wireless network settings" checkbox first and then it will allow me to enter into the aircard config section.

Once I'm in, I can connect to the wireless router but then, when I open up Firefox, the page doesn't display.

Anyone know how I can get my wireless network working again by simply allowing Windows to handle the whole thing and taking the aircard out of the solution?

How about removing the wireless utility in Control Panel / Add and remove programs?

What type of wireless security do you have turned on?

first thing to check is to change the channel from the default channel 6
Rogue signals from neighbor's router ( set on default) can waft in long distances and interfere with your reception
You may not even see them in the windows wireless utilty
You will have a strong signal from your own router but no reception ( blank firefox page in this case)
You can change the channel to anything of the 12
First picks are the other two distinct channels 1 and 11
However if the other router/s are set to automatic you may have to change from time to time
a more sensitive tool for finding rogue signals ( which may be sporadic in nature ) is netstumbler
A very good network maintenance utility is network magic
Even the free version is very useful
Also ensure that your wireless security ( wep/ wpa etc) is not turned on - keeping you out
You should be able to spot it in the wireless settings and in the lan status area
It is best to start with the security off to diagnose your situation
Once you can confirm that you can receive an open wireless signal , and it is stable in reception you can go on to add the security in if you wish
If you have problems reset the router and start from scratch
However if you have dsl - ensure that you have your logon info handy .
At the worst phone your isp to ask

I've managed to get connected to the net using this Wireless Utility but I cannot connect without it.

However, whenevr I reboot, I get a blank page again until I do a rescan using the utility.

On the Windows Wifi Scan box, only my own shows up so I can't see there being any interference.

Also, channel 6 has worked well for the last 2 years so I dont know if the others will work as well but I'll give it a try.

The router is not the problem because my Laptop connects fine using the current settings.

Any idea how I can permanently solve this problem?
