How do I prevent the pop up from Adware?

Hi,
I may have clicked on some web page that embeded the automatic pops up even we don't use any browser. My default browser is Firefox but the pop up window are in Internet Explorer.

 

run a number of adware /spyware / malware removal products
all find different things so you have to use a number of products
There are no shortage of such products and as well no shortage of actual spyware with look alike / sound alike names to real products

some popular ones - lavasoft adaware , spybot ,spyware doctor and the trend product - which used to run fully featured for 30 days
