In sevirices I have Help and support listed as automatic. In Winpatrol I have something located at:
    C:\windows\PChealth\helpctr\binaries\msconfig.exe/auto uncheched.

I don't know if pc health is related to pc help.

What is pchealth exactly and should I allow it in winpatrol?

The first time I checked Startup monitor it was also listed unchecked. The second time I checked it was not listed??

My firewall Sygate has help centre service allowed.

    I can't find it listed in Procexp.exe

It is not listed as a running process in SIW

    Windows XP home edition

For an explanation of PChealth see this thread .....

    http://www.pcreview.co.uk/forums/thread-505280.php

It is not related to Help and Support, rather to msinfo32.exe - Sysinfo and is not a Service.

    C:\windows\PChealth\helpctr\binaries\ is where Msconfig lives.

When you make a change to Msconfig, and after the next boot there is a warning screen, that is being presented as a result of Mscconfig being run with the Auto option.
If you don't click the "don't show again ", this item will show as selected. Once you choose, don't show again, the item is UNselected.

Pete I think I know how this ended up in my Winpatrol startup list. I had to send MSINFO32 file as an attachment to Microsoft tech when sorting out a problem with a security update install.

WhitPhil, I know that when I check or uncheck an item in MSconfig Startup section I do get a window on reboot to tell me of the change and I select don't show me again. I'm not sure what you mean by the item is Unselected. Unselected where?
