My dsl connection was dropping almost everyday for a short time since I installed the Earthlink Home network. It turns out that the modem was configured PPPoE and the router was configured auto detect, which is the opposite of what Earthlink recommends. A tech rep. talked me thru the reconfiguration of both the modem and the router and corrected the problem, but, now my download speed has dropped from over 3.O mb to about 300 or less kps. I have 3.0 dsl service. I called tech support and they say that the reconfiguration is correct and as it should be, but agree that the speed is way too slow. They wrote me a ticket and will check the line. I believe that the speed reduction has something to do with the resetting of the modem and or the router. Prior to today I would get about 2.0 mb on the wireless labtop using Speakeasy for download test and over 3.0 mb on the desktop, now I am getting less than 1/2 mb, Anybody have a clue as to what might have happened?

The problem might be related to nothing whatsoever with your router. This happened to me once with dsl and it ended up as the problem being that a filter wasn't connected to a specific phone jack. You should check that all your filters are plugged in and working and you should find out if you have a dedicated line.

Thanks for the reply. Earthlink told me that AT&T had a line problem which has been corrected. Is currently running ok. What is a dedicated line? Can Earthlink tell me if I have one?
