This isn't really important in the greater scheme of things - just one of those little annoyances that makes me a little crazy at times.

When I start MailWasher the window is centered both vertically and horizontally on the screen. My problem is that it doesn't go to the top of the screen and the bottom of the window is partially hidden behind the task bar - just enough that the progress bar isn't visible. By clicking on the 'maximize' button it will fit itself to the available space on the monitor. I have tried dragging it to the top left corner and stretching it down and to the lower right corner, right-clicking on the task bar short cut > properties> maximize and using the maximize button on the window itself all with no lasting effect. Nothing I've tried seems to work "permanently ". :(

Does anyone know what I can do in the registry or elsewhere to put the window where I want it (re: between the top of the screen and the top of the task bar) and keep it there?

As always, any and all help will be greatly appreciated. TIA :)

Have you tried sizing (not maximized) and positioning it like you want and then Xing it closed? That often saves the settings for you.

    Hi Newt. . .

    And thanks for the reply.

Yes, I have done that. Although it does retain the physical size of the window, the window still centers itself (in a vertical relation to the screen) and it's still behind the task bar. If I drag the task bar down into oblivion, the complete and properly sized MailWasher window is visible but with a band of my desktop showing behind it about 3/4 the width of the task bar both above and below the MW window.

Am I making any sense here? Has anyone else experienced this with MailWasher?

This stupid little glitch is becoming a "quest" now !!

Why can't anything be easy ???

    Thanks,
    Mike

    Run Regedit and look at:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\eCOSM\MAILWASHER\PREFS and check the Window Position string to verify that it is 55,74,691,426 If not edit accordingly.

    Good luck

    Hey Indutch
I kind of think it's a bug in the program. I've discovered that if you drag the window down to the size you want for a normal window and then close the window it will continue to open the same size as when you closed it. If, however, I maximize the window and then close the window without clicking the boxes in the upper right hand corner in order to make it a normal window again, the next time I open it, it will open once again in the same funky way in which you described. So it seems that if you don't want it to open that way you have to make sure you make it a normal window again before you close it. Also, it won't open in the corner of the screen if you close it there even if you close it as I described. If you close it in the corner I've noticed that the next time you open it, it will flash on in the corner for a split second and then put itself in the center of the screen again regardless of the size of the window. Probably just something you have live with. :(

    Thanks Zephyr & Zander

    Zephyr & Zander, hmmm...

How's that for a title? Sounds like it could be a traveling circus, a band, a law firm or even a weather report. ( and sunny)! Maybe you two should get together and form a partnership of some kind. hehe :)

Zephyr: Thanks for the input. Your numbers made the window smaller and completely visible. I'll play with them over the next couple of days and try to get this stupid MW window to the size and position that I want it. I mean, this is my computer and I have complete control over it, right? Please forgive the testostrone level here !! (snort snort)

Zander: I was almost to the point of accepting 'what I could get' and trying to live with what I had but. . . not now !! Zephyr's #s have given me the power to overcome. I will post my results soon. :D

    Thank you both,
    Mike

P.S. I'm wondering why Daizy hasn't waded into this fray. Hi, Daiz !! :)

I guess Miss Daizy is taking a satirical or sabbatical or one of those things. Haven't seen here name on anything the past couple of days.

    FYI. . .

I e-mailed Nick Bolton, the author of MailWasher, and he told me that it is a bug in the beta version that won't be there in the new version, 2.0. He also said that MW 2.0 should be available by the end of this month.

Thanks for the come back indutch and we'll keep a heads up for the new version.

I like the program and have never had a problem with it. I don't think it helps in ridding one of spam but it makes it easier to sort it out and delete it, (fewer keystrokes).

    Thanks again.
