I have 81 updates waiting to be installed. Everytime I click on the pop up that says install these updates, I get a message back that the 81 updates cannot be installed. i am running XP Pro Version 2002 SP2. Any help will be appreciated. Even to the point of telling me how to delete these 81 updates, if nothing else.

If you've recently done a repair install of XP try this.

Click start>run and type cmd. In the command prompt window, type or copy and paste in each of the following lines one at a time, pressing enter after each one of them. Then try updating.

    regsvr32 /s wuapi.dll
    regsvr32 /s wuaueng1.dll
    regsvr32 /s wuaueng.dll
    regsvr32 /s wucltui.dll
    regsvr32 /s wups2.dll
    regsvr32 /s wups.dll
    regsvr32 /s wuweb.dll

    TheLt,

I had the same problem and option #2 fixed it.

    Worked perfectly!
