Task bar keeps auto hiding

    The task bar keeps auto hiding. I have to press the start button to get it to show up. The task bar doesn't show up when I run the mouse down to where the task barshould be. I am using windows xp. I am sure it is something simple, but can't figure it out.

    The auto hide box is unchecked, but when trying to check the box that says keep it on top of the other windows, the curser just shows a hourglass

    Right Click on Taskbar > Properties > Uncheck 'Autohide the taskbar'.

    Also, in the same place Pete mentioned, make sure the line that says "keep the taskbar on top of other windows" is checked.

    I kind of figured as much. This caught my eye when I first read Chacco's post.
    If the taskbar is hidden the start button should be too.

    Chacco, if Pete's suggestion doesn't help, am I reading that right? You can see the start button but not the taskbar?
