I did the windows update critical updates yesterday. I.E. was one on the list.
I usually only have 2 identities in my list when I click on O.E. (both identities are in the same user account). I now have one called Main identity in the list. I tried to click on manage identities and remove it, but that doesn't work. Nothing happens. I can't open the Main Identity. I get an error: The current identity could not be changed because one of the applications was unable to switch etc How do I get this identity off the list?

Windows XP SP2 Home edition I.E. 7 with all the latest updates.

Main Identity is the default identity - you cannot remove it. - it is linked into the System AFAIK.

Very odd because I deleted a long time ago and only today came back to haunt me.

Should I be concerned about the error message?

    What is AFIAK?

Forgot to mention when I click on I.E. quick launch I get 3 choices (one being main identity) but one of the other two identities has the remove greyed out and the other identity and main identity the remove is not greyed out, but it doesn't work with main identity.
