    Flashed BIOS?

I'm going to take a guess and assume that was the MBD BIOS you flashed? - Does that MBD require a jumper to be moved to accept a flash, some do...

Download it again on another box and try again - sometimes it doesn't take on the first shot.

BTW - be sure that the boot floppy you use is NOT loading any mem software like Himem, smartdrv or anything else, just command.com

    No it was

the CDR firmware I flashed.....Not the MOBO.....

This one has stumped many. Any help would be appreciated..Im being told that I have to FDISK bi=ut this makes no sense...Also when I delete the CDR in Safemode it just shows back up without windows recognizing it. I guess because the drivers arent being deleted...The only driver its showing is the CD INF file and when removed I get conflicts...

I think if I could get windows to reinstall it it may work. But then again Ive tried that with XP PRO and NOTTA.......

Thanks all...Im not gonna give up on this one...Seems silly for it to work in a different machine and not the original....Oh yea I also tried it on my backup HD that I have that has a complete Backup of my system..... NOTTA....

Please help if possible. Im losing sleep LOL

There may be a hard learned lesson here.

I read it as all was working OK before the BIOS flash.

If everything is working with no problems, leave the BIOS alone.

In other words, do not upgrade just for the sake of upgrading.

And as Profgab101 correctly pointed out, if not done correctly things can go wrong.

Can't you revert to the old BIOS ?

You may want to try removing the drive while in safe mode then doing a complete shutdown, then physically removing the drive from your machine (disconnect power and IDE cables), rebooting and removing all drivers and registry entries related to the drive. Uninstall any CDR or CDRW software, reboot and remove any remaining software registry entries. Reboot again and if no hangups sysytemwise, then shutdown again and reconnect the drive. If you are unsure of the software registry entries, download a copy of RegCleaner and use it.

Not a guarantee, but should work for you.

    WELL

That didnt work...When I removed everything it was gone on cold reboot. Then i plugged it back in and it was already in device manager without asking or loading drivers...Now I didnt remove the inf file which is the only file that drives my cdroms...I did this before and they showed up in device manager as not working properly... So on we go....Im gonna see what drivers were on the other machine and copy them on this one...Any other suggestions please post .....

    Thanks

    3 days down

Now I know Ive tried everything...I put the CDR back in the other machine and bang no probs. So i decided to take all the ASPI files and replace mine....NOTTA...I then reformatted one of many HDs I have and installed a fresh WWWIN 98.......NOTTA......I then figured it is not software related and must be a BIOS setting....NOTTA.... Iflashed the BIOS.....You guessed it NOTTA....

So it s730 pm and my ARSE hurts so Im relying on you guys heavy now....A new burner would probably do the same thing...

And so you know. It reads CDs but takes 2 or 3 min to load up and wont write any.....

Its a LTR 12101B.. I think its something to do with a IDE controller...But you see where my thinking gets me? LOL

    Thanks in Advance

Another line or two addded to my list of Lessons learned.

I have not had to replace the PS itself for this reason but I have had to replace a plug from same when I carelessly pulled it out by the wires.
