In an over zealous effort to speed up my computer, I made some changes to my startup folder. Apparently I also got rid of some of my system tools. I say apparently because I can't believe I would delete them even accidentally. If it happened other than when I was in the startup folder I have no idea who how or when.

Anyway, now when I click on start->all programs->accessories, the only thing in system tools is IE with no add-ons. I unchecked 'accessories and games' in my windows components and then checked them back again. The games showed up fine, and now I have 'some' system tools - but not anything helpful like disc clean up, defrag, etc.

I have not tried system restore because this was a while ago, I'm not sure what restore point to try, and I am sure I will end up restoring things I don't want. However, I am open to suggestions, including that one. Thx.

Try running the free tool offered here.

It will restore the missing shortcuts, if that's the problem. I suspect that it is.

Thank you, that seems to have done it.
