I have been at this for about 3 weeks now. So here is the situation:

Ok i did the first steps "On the Host Computer" at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306126/en-us

All firewalls on every computer and connection are off.

My wireless card has ICS enabled.---
    Connection details:
    IP Address-192.168.1.3
    Subnet Mask- 255.255.255.0
    Default Gateway- 192.168.1.1
    DHCP Server- 192.168.1.1
    Lease Obtained -12/8/2007 8:05:51 PM
    Lease expires- 12/9/2007 7:13:39 PM
    DNS Server- 192.168.1.1
    WINS Server-
    ------
    My ethernet card(LAN) connection details:
    IP Address- 192.168.0.1
    Subnet Mask- 255.255.255.0
    rest blank.
    ----
    Now on the client settings...
I set the ethernet card to Obtain everything automatically--when i did these steps i did a ipconfig /renew(it took a couple mins then it said "An error occurred while renewing interface local area connection : unable to contact your DHCP server. Request has timed out. "
^ the Connection details for this at this time are:
    IP Address- 169.254.175.55
    Subnet Mask- 255.255.0.0
    rest blank.
Then i went on to "To configure the client computer to use the shared Internet connection, follow these steps:" in that website and: Still no change. So i restarted the Client computer. And Still no change in IP Address. So i did another ipconfig /renew and did the same thing as before.
So i restarted the Host computer. and did a ipconfig /renew and still no change. So im confused.
    ----------------------------------------------------
Now i tried to Statically configure the client:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/309642/en-us

    IP Address: 192.168.0.11
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
    Default Gateway: 192.168.0.1
    Preferred DNS server: 192.168.0.1
    ---Now when i did this:
"Click Advanced, and then click the DNS tab.
In the DNS suffix for this connection box, type MSHOME.NET. "

*I did it but do you need the boxes under neath that DNS suffix for this connection box Checked that says "Register this connection's addresses in DNS" Then the other one "Use this connection's DNS suffix in DNS registration "*

but i left it like it was with just the "Register this connection's addresses in DNS" box checked. Then i went on to the next step...Got the clients computer name which is "will "

Went back to the Host computer. looked for the host file which looks like this:

    # Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
    #
    # This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
    #
    # This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
    # entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
    # be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
    # The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
    # space.
    #
    # Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
    # lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
    #
    # For example:
    #
    # 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
    # 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

    127.0.0.1 localhost
    192.168.0.11 will.MSHOME.NET

    # Start of entries inserted by Spybot - Search & Destroy
    # This list is Copyright 2000-2007 Safer Networking Limited
    127.0.0.1 www.007guard.com...
    127.0.0.1 007guard.com...
    ....
    # End of entries inserted by Spybot - Search & Destroy

Then i restarted my computer and there has not been a change

I hope this gave you all more information about my situation.

How are you connecting to the internet? What device connects your computer to your internet connection?

Internet connection share isn't a very reliable system. You would be much better off letting the router deal with the job of handling your connection sharing.

If both computers can connect to the router, just set them both to automatically obtain IP addresses and they should pick up suitable IP addresses from the router and work.

Using the router to share the internet connection will be easier to set up and be much more reliable that ICS. It will also mean that you won't have to have the computer running ICS to be on when the other PC needs to connect.

Thats not an option b/c how my computers are located in the house. And i want to have more control through my PC so it can act as a parental control I don't want to AD-HOC my router.
