I got an HP 1610v All in One unit from my sister, so my wife could have this type of thing. I tried to install the software and sometime after I have to plug in the USB cable I get an error of: INSTALLATION NOT SUCCESSFUL Microsoft System Information: File C:\windows\TEMP\msinfo.nfo does not exist unplug USB cable and restart computer to remove sotware. So I did, and I retried this about 4 or 5 times, no luck. So, I tried it in my XP box and altho I don't remember the error it really raised havoc with my unit. It locked up and when I rebooted it gave me the administrator screen where-in I have to click on my icon to get into XP. I got that back to normal and said the heck with it because I am trying to get this to work on my wife's HP Pavillion. Oh, this all in one works great on my Kubuntu box. I Googled the windows error and it gave me 2 results of which neither had a definite solution. But one did state that the problem could be caused by anti virus software. My wife's HP has no anti virus software and my XP does but we might deal with mine IF we can figure out how to get it to work in Win 98SE. And of course as of July '07 HP no longer has any support for 98 or ME.

Okay, that gives me what appears to be some good areas to look at. Altho I didn't see anything on that specific error there seems to be enough to hopefully find and fix the problem. I didn't look very far in HP's website for Win98 issues because I seen that they didn't support Win 98 or ME as far as software updates so, I figured there would be nothing else to look for. I'll post as soon as I get somewhere. Hopefully a resolve:).

Just to update. I have scoured HP's website and I cannot find any clues what-so-ever to resolve this problem. I just got done emailing HP, but I am not sure I will get an answer since this product is older. I will list here the various errors I was given while trying to install this software. This error occurs after the USB cable is plugged in and it is loading the HP PSC software; I get a blue error box that has: M:\SETUP\hpzmsi01.exe -list minimum -LENU -f C:\WINDOWS\hpoins05.dat-vali (that is all that is see-able). Within that box is: INSTALLATION NOT SUCCESSFUL Microsoft System Information File C:\windows\TEMP\msinfo.nfo does not exist . Then I click on the "details" and here are the details: ERROR SITUATION CODE:08336205 NOWLAUNCHING=X:\hpzmsi01.exe -list minimum -lxxx -f X:\DIVins??DAT X:\HPSoftwareUpdate.msi failed with return code 1624 MSIInstall()failed with 1624 for MSI HPSoftwareUpdate . Exit code=1624.

Not sure if anyone can help but this is everything I have for errors. I Googled different error codes and complete sentences with no results.

Yes, you need to check out the HP website. There is a firmware update and a way to check and determine whether or not you need it. My suggestion at this point is to uninstall the software with your printer disconnected and then download and install RegCleaner. Run this and remove all remaining HP entries (there will be several). Then try your installation again. If you stall out and can't find a called for driver, look in the Windows ME section for the file called for. HP makes a driver uninstall application for some of their all in ones but I didn't see one for this one. Note: you may need to have the CD in a drive bay in order to uninstall whats already there.

On the one hand when the software gets to the error point it uninstalls everything and then reboots. As for registry cleaning I did that by using the info from HP's website. And I did a fresh install with the same results. Now that you mention it Win ME, IIRC, is very similar to 98SE and maybe something there might help. I don't recall a firmware update that would solve the particular problem I have but I will look again.

    Stay tuned.

Get RegCleaner and remove anything HP related ...... trust me. You haven't scratched the surface. (I'm also assuming your computer isn't HP or it would change my advice re: everything HP related).

Yep, it's an HP Pavillion. But, I would think that I can remove all other HP related items like the HP 825 printer and the HP digital camera, as well as any leftover HP PSC 1600 bits. I should be able to differentiate those items from the HP Pavillion regs.

Interesting coming in on this one as I was just about to post a similiar problem.

My HP psc 1200 series disk won't load on my desktop but loads Ok on my laptop.

I'm running XP Home and the printer is psc1210.
The message I get is ..... The file cannot be accessed by the system

    Roy66,

Did you check all of HP's website? If not use the links tmarks gave me and look at everything. Or, being that you are using XP there might be a patch or something on HP's site.

    Rockster2U,

As for regcleaner, is it www.regcleaner.com or a different path. Being that there are, I'm sure, other similar but possibly harmful registry cleaner sites I want to make sure I am going to use the right one.

I have utilized the HP Scrubber from their site to clean all their listings from the registry which should provide a "clean" start and eliminate conflict.

My problem, still remains.....The file cannot be accessed by the system.

Although I am a big fan of RegSeeker, I meant exactly what was said - no typo's or brain cramps - RegCleaner.

No typo's or brain cramps - :D - a first from this author.

No apologies ever necessary Pete. Your comments are always welcomed. In fact, RegSeeker would also do this job (cleaning leftover HP entries) and perhaps it would do it much better via a search; however, I recommended RegCleaner because it makes this task a little safer for some users.

Took a break from the all in one to work on a daughter's computer. So, I have a problem with RegCleaner. I download it to the desktop and click on it and it becomes a part of Print Artist and then I can't do anything with it. I have re-downloaded it 4 times and even used a different folder to download to and it still becomes a part of Print Artist. So, I will try to find regseeker and work with that. Unless of course you have a different opinion.
