Hey guys. I'm just curious about registry cleaners. What are your opinions about them? Have you had any bad experiences with them? Have they increased system performance after removing obsolete entries? Have they actually fixed any errors you had on your system? Share your thoughts. :)

My opinion about registry cleaners is if you need to use a registry cleaner use a free one like Regseeker or CCleaner. I use Regseeker and now I am very careful about which entries I delete otherwise I will mess up my entire system. I learned about that the hard way. When I didn't know a lot about registry cleaners I ran regseeker and deleted all of the errors it found. After that Windows Vista wouldn't run right and I got error messages about missing files. I ended up having to reinstall Windows Vista because of my neglegence and stupidity. If you uninstall software the uninstaller isn't perfect so I run Regseeker to clean up remnants of programs that I uninstalled. I don't even delete anything that has a path to the Windows folder because more than likely it is a valid file that Regseeker is calling invalid. I haven't noticed any increases in performance since running a registry cleaner. The myth that registry cleaners improve performance is a total scam. I have heard from other people "if it aint broken don't fix it, let windows mange the registry itself." Bascially I run Regseeker along with disk cleanup and a defrag in order to keep my system clean and running smoothly.

It would be interesting to hear what you guys think about registry cleaners. Feel free to post any comments.
