I can connect to my dial up server and download window updates, and Norton internet security updates with no problem, but as soon as I launch Netscape 8 or SeaMonkey, my dialup connection stops receiving all activity, and usually disconnects my dial up service in about 30 to 60 seconds.

Can you connect with Internet Explorer?
I don't have dialup, but, you may have enough time to check the Edit|Preferences|Advanced|Proxies for Seamonkey. (Netscape8 has been replaced by the much more reliable Netscape9.x.) Direct connection to the internet is the way I have it checked. However, I remembered that long time ago, I was using a Proxy assigned by my ISP. Does it ring any bells?
