I was surfing the net, then my IE shuts down on its own. When I reopend IE, the homepage was not my preset homepage, and it started to open up all these web pages by itself.

I disconnected my internet connection, yet my IE is still starting on its own and going to thsoe pages, so i get the "no internet connection, work offline" message box.

When i tried Ctrl+Alt+Del, my windows tell me my task manager has been disabled by administrator. Which is odd, b/c I am the administrator and I did no such thing.

So, I did system retore, went online and downloaded BitDefender. But i think the trouble maker was still in my computer, b/c even after system retore, my IE was still very very odd.

After I downloaded BitDefender, I installed and ran it. THREE times, my computer froze and did not finish the scan, i have 800+ files infected.

After hours of restarting in safe mode, safe mode with network etc. I do not know what happened, my computer just went completely BLANK.

So, i turned it off from the back (the back power button), then try starting again, it gives me the option of running in safe mode etc, however, I still see a blank screen once it goes past that point, its like I have no more Windows xp or something.

I didn't even get a chance to install everything that we were suppose to install to post on this forum... sigh...

Is my computer salvageable? I did not back any of my pictures/personal stuff up, is it completely lost to me now? Should i go and buy myself a new computer for Christmas?

What is my best course of action now?

It would be greatly appreciated if someone can help/advise me.

    I am now desperate.

    PLEASE HELP . . .

    Welcome to WindowsBBS kyrafran :)

Do you have an XP operating system disc (not a recovery cd)? I would recommend trying a repair installation if you do.
