Windows XP log off help

I have a strange problem. Whenever I log off (not when I shut down) Windows XP, my user's administrator privileges gets revoked and my power system schemes gets reset. Does anybody have any experience with this?

I have scanned my computer for viruses and adaware. No results.

Are they returned when you log back on?
Why log off? If not, you may have to restart rather than log off.

 

No, they're not returned. I frequently log off to switch between usernames.

If not strange, definetely out of the ordinary...I think for anyone including myself to zoom in, that more information will be helpful...Did the computer come with Xp or did someone upgrade it ??? Also, was any previous attempts to fix any problems performed before this particular problem was noticed ???

 

Check Event Viewer for error / info during logoff and logon activity.
