System won't stand by or hibernate

    Even after I go to power managment & tell it to standby after 1 hour and hibernate after 2 hours it still won't do it.

    Hello Dorothy and welcome to the Board :)

    Can you put the system into Standby and Hibernate modes manualy?

    If yes, you should look for a background process that signals "busy" to the system - such as: defraging, do you run a 3rd party defragger? Or a P2P application that would download/upload?

    Did this work before and then stopped working? If yes, can you tie it to any software/MS updates or application/system crash?
