This is a ThinkPad A31, running Win XP pro with SP2. It doesn't have internet access, so I imagine whatever fix I try will involve either importing via a USB thumb drive, or going out and buying a PCMCIA wireless card.
The title of this post is what comes up when I type Regedit into the RUN window.
    What can the matter be?

Pete, you're the greatest! It works.
Strangely, I typed in "regedit.*" under search, thinking I might find that regedit.com, so I could delete it, but I got no results at all-nothing found, not even regedit.exe.

    Hi, skaler2k. :)

Did you follow the instructions for Windows XP at Bleeping Computer?
After performing the steps above, search for regedit and please let us know what you find.

If you find a regedit.com file, then you might have malware so please let us know if you do have a regedit.com file and where it is located.

My apologies for not replying sooner. The A31 Thinkpad is history. I sold it on craigslist. Thanks very much for your inputs. Happy Holidays.

    Thanks for following up. :)

Let's hope you sold it without malware on it.
