    Hello,

Any advice would be appreciated. I'm running XP Home and it crashed tonight and I can't boot back up. I'm getting a message like:

"corrupted Windows root: {bunch of numbers} .exe
Please reinstall copy of above file. "

Any thoughts? I'm looking for my XP disc but haven't found it yet, and I really need to access the computer for work.

Thanks very much for any help.

Hello LostInSpace and welcome to the Board :)

I've added to your thread title to indicate that the system won't boot.

You definitely need the XP cd.

    Hi Charles,

Thanks for the reply (and addition to the thread title). Still haven't located the XP disc but my friend can bring one over if I can't find mine.

When I get the disc, do you know if there's a repair utility on there? I appreciate your help.

Your friend's cd has to be the Home version with SP2 on it - if your version was SP2 as well: http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm

Thanks again Charles. I'll read through the linked information and see if I can figure this out. Much appreciated.
