Shortly after its introduction I gave it a try. I found the shortcomings unacceptable and uninstalled it, reverting to IE6.

I kept an eye on the comments in one or two forums for a while and it seems for many months afterwards there were many who still wouldn't touch it.

What's the situation now? What's the concensus of opinion amongst the cognoscenti?

I have used IE 7 since the beta days and find no issues with it at all - and I use it several hours a day. It is far more secure than IE 6 and an upgrade to 7 is highly recommended.

I used it on XP Pro (now being used by my husband) and am now using it on Vista HP. There have been no problems with it on XP. On Vista it had a brief psychotic episode a few days ago when it misplaced a bunch of passwords. I decided it had misplaced rather than forgot them because it found them all again after a reboot. ;)

Had a similar experience and also returned to IE6 earlier in the year. About a month ago I tried IE7 again and am quite happy with it the second time around and no problems.

I've never had a problem with it and like it better than IE6.

Still use IE6 on one of my installations and am annoyed sometimes when comparing it to IE7.

Syncopator, thanks for reminding me. My bank finally got compatible with IE7 so I just installed it. Took four minutes with the restart...and it's working fine. I did UNcheck the boxes for "Check for IE7 Updates" and "...Malicous software" since they were said to sometimes cause install problems. Also turned off my AV and AntiSpyWare as recommended.

Then got the IE7 updates. Added the Email icon via Tools>Customize. I like the tabbed mini-window browsing already, which was enjoyable in Firefox.

    I can't remember Steve, sorry. However .......

Encouraged by comments here and on other forums, where I also asked the same question, I installed IE7 again yesterday.

It as prone to freezing, and nothing in the browsewr itself or on the desktop would respond to the mouse. I had to reboot via the PC's reset button.

I uninstalled the damned thing about half an hour ago and the problems went with it.

    Comments anyone?
