Have you tried it in other USB ports? - preferably one of those at the back of the case.

Have you tried a PS/2 keyboard? I suspect a possible USB controller/port problem here.

I have not, even tried using another keyboard, however it was working fine one day then didn't after that.
But I have had problems with my USB ports also . I have a USB 4 port extension that when it is plugged in I am getting the message:error loading OS so I have unplugged it for now and thought I would take one problem at a time. Could they be related?

Well, according to your first post you have tried another keyboard

On the basis that you have the source of the problem may be elsewhere. I would still be interested to know if you have tried the keyboard in another USB port as I posted earlier.

I would put your USB hub to one side for now - I currently have no idea why the 'error loading OS' message appears - presumably when you boot with the hub connected?

If switching the keyboard to another (rear) USB port has no effect on the problem I suggest you go into Device Manager and Uninstall/remove all USB controllers and root hubs and reboot to let Windows re-install them and see if that resolves the problem.

    Hi,
There was a similar sounding problem recently. Check the settings in Control Panel -> Keyboard. There may also be settings in the BIOS/Startup configuration settings (like Typematic Rate).

Investigate any "helper" software that may relate to the keyboard (usually an icon in the Notification Tray).

USB, "extension" sounds like the hub is not powered, you should use a self-powered hub or there may be an overload on the port.

    Matt
