System Restore will not load

    I can't start System Restore. I get an error message saying it has encountered an error and needs to close. Error signature:
    AppName: rstrui.exe AppVer: 5.1.2600.2180 ModName mshml.dll
    ModVer: 6.0.2900.3199 Offset: 0006ae60
    ANY CLUES?

    Check in Event Manager for additional clues .. post any findings. The log(s) are time stamped, start with most recent. If additional older entries, are they same error results or different?

    To open Event Viewer, go to Start > Run and type eventvwr.msc, click OK.

    You can double click on any error for more details, and there is also a button to copy the error to your clipboard for easy copying & pasting.

    I can't find sr.inf......i have sr.pnf. Did the file somehow get deleted? Maybe a virus?

    I'd try running SCF first. If that doesn't work I suggest a repair install.
