My pc is working fine though, when im booting up as normal.. ( "fine" is maybe the right word, cause my pc is pretty much loaded with viruses i think.. thats why i want to reformat my pc..)

Anyone here able to help me out on this matter?

Btw.. the tech-guys that workes where i live (a student place) forces me to format my pc before i can get the internet back. They said i got stormworm..

    CPU: AMD 2800+
    MB: Asus k8v

    Thanks,
    Regards.

    Unreal143 - Welcome to the Board :)

Your thread moved to the Removing Spyware & Viruses forum.

Please follow the instructions below and then have patience until one of our trained analysts can follow it up .....

Please download HijackThis through Quicklinks in my signature and save it to a folder on your hard drive, say C:\HJT - not to the Desktop or a temporary location. When entries are fixed with HJT a backup is made to the folder from which HJT is run and this must be in a permanent location.

Open the folder in which you placed HJT and double click on hijackthis.exe and select Scan and save a log file - this will be saved in the folder from which you ran HJT. Post the log (copy/paste) into your next post in this thread.

I understand your need to reformat, but as I have not come across TRAP 000@C and there are no relevant hits on Google I am wondering if you have a boot virus.

If it is a matter of urgency and you have a floppy drive you can download a Windows 98 Boot disk from here and use fdisk to format the drive - or get a Win 98 startup disk from your IT people. There are also a couple of XP boot disk/CD which may be helpful.

However until some explanation of that message is forthcoming I would hold fire - I assume your Windows installation CD is authentic and not a copy? Have you tried it in another computer?

You need to remove the partition on your disk and remake it prior to formatting.

Sounds like to boot from a CD, you need to first clear the BIOS, which should be what you've done. Please detail how you've reset your cmos (should be the same thing), because It didn't work. If you're using a notebook, that may be difficult. I don't work on notebooks, so can't direct you how to clear the BIOS. Possibly the manual can help, or someone who works on notebooks may come here.

If using a tower that you can open, suggest you disconnect power, then press the power button, and then remove the battery on the motherboard for a few seconds (e.g., 30) and replace it, scrupulously avoiding static electricity. Then you should be able to boot to the setup program and choose either defaults or failsafe if that's an option, and then boot to your CD.

There are other ways to clean the disk (putting it in another computer), but as PereC suggested, it sounds like the flashable part ot your BIOS is involved. This also is correctable. The hardware part of the BIOS can't be infected.
