File ownership in Vista and XP

3 months ago I aquired Vista, I also had XP (MCE). There were some files on the XP drive that I wanted to open in Vista. In order to open them I had to change system ownership from the XP account to the vista account. 2 weeks ago the drive containing Vista crashed, I have never been able to acsess the data that I changed the ownership of.

Any assistance?

P.S: I never had this trouble with Ubuntu...

 

Are you dual booting? If your computer can "see" the files, but not read them, try taking ownership again with XP.
